Goals and Plans
Goals:
The
goal of MSMI is to help people help themselves. Like the men who presently
stay at the MSMI, the families and women will experience loving support, discipline,
socially acceptable behavior standards, and the tough love of an experienced
Christian staff. Upon their leaving MSMI, they will feel better about themselves
and be equipped to be productive citizens for our community.
What we plan to do:
With the acquisition of these 4.7 acres, we plan to build four separate buildings behind what will be our kitchen building. Each building can be expanded as the needs arise. We would start out with a building that has 4 or 5 small motel-type apartments for families with a fenced play area. Then we would add a second dorm-type building set up for single women and single mothers with children. There would be a separate door entry for single women and a fenced area for the children to play. The third building will be a dorm for single men. The fourth building will be set up for an administration offices and a health-care room for doctors, dentists, etc. We also want a chapel room. One warehouse will be used for the walk-in freezer, walk-in cooler, and food stored for distribution. The second warehouse will be used for clothing and household items to be distributed, and the third warehouse will be used for storage and getting clothing and household items sorted for distribution to the needy. This will allow families; single mothers with children, single women, and men a place to temporarily stay while working. This will also be a place where people that come in crying for help with substance abuse can stay until we are able to move them to a rehabilitation center.
During their time at the MSMI, we will make sure they have a job, or we will
help them find a job. We will also provide transportation to and from work
if needed. We will make sure they are saving money for home and utilities
deposits. They will be required to sign a contract stating they have been
apprised of the rules of the Mission. This includes going to a church of their
choice Sunday day and night and Wednesday night.
